Melanie Sykes - Kitchen Must Have

5 Kitchen Must Haves

Sometimes, cooking can be wonderful way to de-stress. You can’t think about work when you’re measuring out the ingredients for a tray-load of chocolate chip muffins or trying to roll out some pastry for a quiche (even if it’s just the shop-bought kind!), and having great kitchen gadgets can make this form of culinary therapy even better.

Joseph Food Preparation Bowl Set

This is a colourful and incredibly handy little set which includes, amongst other stuff, two mixing bowls, a colander, four spoons and three different sized measuring cups. Priced at £115, it can seem like a lot, but you get a huge amount of kitchen kit here and the best bit is that it hardly takes up any room at all in the cupboard.

Morphy Richards Spiralizer

What do you mean you haven’t spiralized a courgette yet? Well, it’s time to rectify that right now and one of the best ways to put a kink in your vegetable peelings is with this stylish version from Morphy Richards. It’s a hands free Spiralizer Express and, for £49.99, it’ll make short work of any veg skin within seconds:

Sage by Heston Blumenthal Slow Cooker

A great slow cooker is at the heart of Melanie’s food preparation philosophy, and this gorgeous one from John Lewis can do practically anything.  It combines pressure and slow cooking, and despite the busy display is incredibly simple to use. We’ll be showcasing some of Melanie’s favourite slow cooker recipes over the coming weeks, so if you haven’t got a slow cooker yet, now’s the time!

Joseph Elevate Kitchen Tool Carousel

We’re sticking with the bright colours for this next item. Not only does it look great but it’s highly practical (always a good combination when it comes to kitchens). Made from beech wood and silicone, it provides five essential kitchen tools in a smart holder. Around £58 (£45 on Amazon).

Nespresso Inissia Coffee maker

Melanie may not be drinking caffeine at the moment but it doesn’t mean we all have to avoid it, or the stylish machines that make it. Although we love to grind our own beans and indulge slow coffee from an espresso or V60, Nespresso still has its allure for its speed and vareity.  Sleek, compact and incredibly stylish. It’s definitely a must-have at £89.
